Life tables for Switzerland 2008/2013 - Life expectancy is rising faster for men than for women

Neuchâtel, 31.03.2017 - (FSO) – For the period from 2008 to 2013, life expectancy at birth for men living in Switzerland was 80.1 years and for women 84.5. Over the first ten years of the 21st century, it increased by 2.9 years for men and by 1.7 years for women. Although it is increasing at a slightly slower pace, life expectancy at birth for women and men living in Switzerland remains amongst the highest in the world. These are the main findings from Switzerland’s new multi-annual life tables calculated by the FSO for the 2008-2013 period.
